The Together! Art Club is FREE and meets on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10am-12noon at Vicarage Lane Community Centre, Govier Close, Stratford E15 4HW. The Art Club is targeted at Disabled* people and their companions, but non-disabled people are welcome as volunteers. There is no need for individuals to book; just turn up.
On Tuesdays we focus on Applied Arts techniques that are also useful in Fine Art, and work as a group with recycled and donated materials, changing activity every few weeks. On Fridays participants focus on Drawing & Painting, and work individually to develop their own artistic voice. The Art Club is based on the principle that we all have something to teach and something to learn, and is facilitated by mid-career Disabled artists.
*Together! 2012 CIC is a Social Model of Disability organisation, and includes people with learning difficulties, people with mental health difficulties, people with sensory and physical impairments and people with long-term health conditions. We do not provide social care, but will support participants to liaise with Adult Services. We will also do our best to recruit suitable volunteers for participants who need practical assistance with the activity to participate.
There are no paid staff, but the Art Club is supported by Arts Council England and in-kind by London Borough of Newham.
