After finishing 9-4 last year and closing the season with a 17-10 win over UNLV in the Frisco Bowl, Ohio begins its 2026 season with a chance at a signature win. The Bobcats averaged 411.5 total yards and 27.8 points per game in 2025, with 227.4 rushing yards per game. Running back Duncan Brune returns after rushing for 585 yards and eight touchdowns last season, while safety DJ Walker is back after recording 61 tackles and two interceptions. Ohio has won seven straight bowl games and will face Nebraska for the first time in program history.
Nebraska starts its new campaign after finishing 7-6 for the second straight season. The Cornhuskers ended last year with a 44-22 loss to No. 15 Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl, where Mekhi Nelson rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown in his first career start. Nebraska will have a new quarterback in Anthony Colandrea, who transferred from UNLV after throwing for 3,459 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2025. Wide receiver Jacory Barney Jr. also returns after catching 45 passes for 484 yards and five touchdowns last season.
